In The News

You asked for it and here it is, Friday. Sit back, relax and before you get ready for the weekend read In The News. For the record, In The News was not named in the Mitchell report.

  1. Did you read about the new $5 dollar bill? It seems that honest Abe will be getting a dose of color. Purple and gray tones as well as other high tech changes are designed to make life difficult for counterfeiters. The new $5 will go into circulation March 13, the Bureau of Engraving and Printing and the Federal Reserve announced Thursday. The next bill set for a makeover is the $100 bill, there will be no changes to the $1 bill. I feel bad for the $1 dollar bill.
  2. Did you read about the glow in the dark cats? It seems that South Korean scientists have created cloned cats that glow in the dark. This week the scientists showed off the cats, which now glow a dull red under ultraviolet light after a gene for producing red fluorescence protein was inserted in their genetic code.
  3. Did you read about Senator’s Mitchell MLB report? it seems that after 20 months and $20 millions Senator Mitchell released his 400 plus page report detailing the use of performance enhancing drugs and naming names in the process. In announcing release of the report, Mitchell said, “This has not been an isolated problem involving just a few players or a few clubs.” Some of the names include all time home run leader Barry Bonds and 300 game winner Roger Clemens. Thanks for the old news Senator.
