Vacation Over!!

Monday, August 27th, 2007

It is official, my vacation is over and done with. The last two weeks sure flew by real fast. If you are a regular reader then you know that there were no regular post this past 2 weeks and by regular I mean no In The News, no Investment Reports and no Open Mike Wednesdays. Have no fear, starting today we are going back to the old schedule.

On Saturday I got up late, as usual, and got ready for the game. DC United played the Toronto FC. The result 1-0 in favor of my team, that four time champion, DC United. That leaves my team in second place in the Eastern division with a record of 12-6-3, good enough for 39 points and the second best record in the league. I smell another championship.

On Sunday I got up kind of early for one reason. The whole family got together to flip my nephew’s room. My dad and I were in charge of putting the hardwood floor and got it done in about four and half hours, piece of cake. My nephew was real happy about it. The day was not over so I took a shower and got ready for the LA Galaxy-Colorado Rapids game. Final score, 3-0 in favor of the Colorado, then watched the Real Salt Lake-Chivas USA game. I watched the first half and slept for about 40 minutes of the second half, I was tired, final score was 1-0 in favor of Chivas. And that was that as far as Sunday goes.

Six Flags Magic Mountain, Part 3

Friday, August 24th, 2007

My vacation is almost over, and after going through a lot of problems with the site I had not been able to finish telling you about my Six Flags visit. That problem has been dealt with so get ready for part 3, here we go.

After riding Scream we headed to the biggest coaster in the park. Goliath, “Towering 255 feet above the earth, this massive steel superstructure hits speed of 85 mph”. I have been on Goliath before and it is a monster, the first drop is nearly 61 degrees. When we got on everybody was going to raise their hands but not me, not on this first drop at least. Sooner or later I will raise my hands and you will know about it when it happens. It is one of the best coasters in the park. By then all of us who got wet in Roaring Rapids were dry, I expected that after all those high speed twist and turns in all the previous rides. Then we decide to get some food, we chose pizza and for some strange reason it was the best pizza I’ve ever had. I was so hungry and maybe that had something to do with that. After lunch we hit a store to buy some capes, yes capes. I got a Superman cape and wore it the rest of the day. We then moved on to another coaster that I have never ridden before since it opened in 1988. Ninja, “delivering high speed thrills and 180-degree, side-to-side swings through hair spin turns and spirals-at speeds up to 55 mph”. Some family members who had ridden Ninja before told me that it wasn’t that good but to my surprise it was, and in the end even they agreed with me. I will ride it again that is for sure. After Ninja we moved on to the Sky Tower, I was told by the employee in charge of the elevator that it was 30 stories high. The views are spectacular specially on clear days, everything in the park looked so small from up there. After going down the elevator we moved on to what in my opinion is the most disappointing ride in the whole park. Superman The Escape, you basically accelerate to 100 mph and then shoot up a 41 story tower then fall back down. The high speed was the best thing about the ride, but that is just me. After that we moved to the park’s first roller coaster. Goldrusher opened in 1971 and it lets you experience a runaway mine train at 35 mph. One thing I would recommend to Six Flags is to change the bench seats on this ride and go for individual seats. All that side to side slipping was no fun. A funny thing happened to me right after getting off Goldrusher, we are walking out and this woman looked at me and then asked, “Excuse me, are you from Texas?”, I answered no and then she said ,”Thank You”. And that was it, maybe it was the hat I was wearing, I sure don’t know. It was funny to me nonetheless. We then headed to the Go Carts, after a short wait we got in our carts and racing we go. I finished last and I don’t know why, I am telling you I am better than that. And finally after all that walking and having fun we went to the Batman Begins Stunt Show, the show was a lot of fun with lots of fights and explosions. After the show we walk some more and then decide it’s time to go home. On the way home we stopped to get something for dinner, and something funny happened. While everybody decided to take their capes off my nephew and I kept ours on. We went in, ordered and sat down to eat. And from what I was told everybody was looking at us and nobody and I mean nobody sat next to us while we were there. We got in the Batmo…………………I meant the car and home we went.

Hey, hope you enjoyed reading the Six Flags posts as much as I enjoyed writing them for you. One of the best things about being on vacation is that you get to spend more time with family and friends. I will forever cherish and remember the wonderful time we had. I will see you Monday bright and early.

Back To Normal

Thursday, August 23rd, 2007

It took long enough but we are back to the way we used to be. Not 100% yet but closer to 99% I would say. I want to thank my webhost and hope that the same problem never happens again. I know you must be tired of reading about it so I am going to give it a rest now that everything is working. That is going to allow me to finally finish part 3 of that Six Flags trip. It is almost Friday and that means that my vacation is almost over and getting back to work is closer and closer. I thank you for staying with me this week. Weekendshere is back to normal and that is the way you and I like it.

One Thing Leads To Another

Wednesday, August 22nd, 2007

It is pretty sad the way my webhost has decided to go about this whole thing. For those of you who don’t know what I am talking about please read the last 2 posts and you’ll understand. I got a response to my last e-mail and after reading it I can’t help but feel that I am getting the runaround. And to top it all off, I had lots of problems with my high speed connection. It’s ok, I don’t get mad or angry because that only hurts me, so I laugh about the whole thing and try to deal with it the best I can. I do expect results and so far my webhost has none, and thanks to them traffic has been abysmal. 28 visitors on Monday and 16 on Tuesday and if it stays that way I am pretty sure I am not going to match let alone beat last month numbers. It is sad because the first half of this month was very promising, numbers looked very good but I am not giving up, that is not my style. I feel like going to Six Flags and getting on Deja Vu all over again……………………wait!, I’ve been experiencing deja vu since last Saturday. Damn!.

My Fault?……..Yeah Right!!

Tuesday, August 21st, 2007

If you read yesterday’s post about all the problems I am having with the website then you know that I e-mailed my webhost a second time. Well I got a response telling me, I am paraphrasing, that there were some unintentional script glitches with their 1 and 1 web blog last week and that they are doing their best to fix them. That e-mail makes it clear to me, it was their fault and not mine. I am still waiting for them to get to mine and fix it just the way it was. It’s the least they can do for their client, right?. The site is still giving me problems and you still can’t check other categories, you get those 404 error messages. What is taking so long 1 and 1?. Stay tuned and hopefully things will go back to normal soon.
