A Relaxing Weekend

Monday, July 23rd, 2007

This weekend without a doubt has been a very relaxing one. Went to bed early and got up early, so I have been real good this weekend. Took care of my errands and enjoyed the nice weather. Watched a couple of games as usual and did a lot of thinking. The DC United played today and lost to the NY Redbulls 1-0. What a crummy game United played, yes there were some important players out but that is not an excuse to be crummy. There was no passing at all, wait there was some to the other team, a total disappointment. If they had won they would be sharing first place with The Revolution, instead we are stuck in fourth place. Get with the program guys!!. Other than that my weekend was excellent. I have been thinking about taking a vacation, getting away will do me good. There is nothing wrong with working hard of course but I do feel that there is something wrong with working too hard and burning yourself out. Trust me on that one ok because I know what I am talking about. Work hard? yes!, work too hard and burn yourself out?, No!. Anyway, don’t forget to make this week a very productive one.

In The News

Friday, July 20th, 2007

Time sure flies when you are working hard. The 2 days that most of us look forward to are hours away. Forget about that for a second, forget the newspaper, forget your local news and read In The news, the best source of news in the planet. Best if used before July 21, 2007.

  1. Did you read about the best places to live? The top 100 places to live were chosen by CNNMoney.com. Here are the top five, #1 Middleton, WI, #2 Hanover, NH, #3 Louisville, CO, #4 Lake Mary, FL and #5 Claremont, CA.
  2. Did you read about the world’s top earning models? it seems that modeling is a very lucrative business. Here is a list of the top five for 2007 according to Forbes Magazine. Gisele Bundchen at number one with $33 million, Kate Moss is in the number 2 spot with $9 million. Heidi Klum of Project Runway sits at number 3 with $8 million. Adriana Lima, at number 4 with $6 million and at number 5 Alessandra Ambrosio with $6 million. For the record, Adriana Lima is still number one in my heart.
  3. Did you read about the dog that eats cash? Pepper, an 8 year old black Labrador-German shorthair likes to munch. He has been known to do just that with lipstick, shampoo bottles and toothpaste. This time around he munched on $750. In the end Pepper’s owners managed to recover $647 after going through dog feces and some of the bills that were vomited or just chewed on.

$300

Thursday, July 19th, 2007

If you read my post on Tuesday then you already know about the 9 cents I earned in interest from my bank. If you haven’t read it then click here and check it out. Now let me tell you about some good news, I managed to save $50 a month for the first six months of the year and that means that I have $300 big ones. I am going to take that money and put it in my savings account and watch it………………just kidding. Seriously, I thought about opening a CD, buying stocks or opening an account with ING. I am sure all of us have seen those ING commercials advertising their Orange Savings Account with all those bills running around. They have a 4.50% rate that beats the measly 0.20% that my bank paid me. I am going to think about my choices and then decide for the one that is best for me. I work hard for my money and I expect my money to do the same. This would be used as an emergency only account, we all know those show up when we least expect them.

6 Cents

Tuesday, July 17th, 2007

I got my monthly bank statement this past Saturday. Like most everybody does I checked it carefully to make sure that everything was fine and it was until I checked how much interest my savings account earned during the month of June and all I saw was 6 cents, yep. My annual Percentage Yield earned was 0.20% and the grand total interest I have been paid this year comes out to 39 cents. I started with $400 in that account but somehow I have $384.21 now, bank fees I assume. The way I see it my poor money is working as hard as it can for me but that bank is holding it back with a measly rate as expected from a bank of course. And just to add insult to injury I get a monthly service charge of $8.50 deducted from my standard checking account because my “balance was below the minimum balance of $1,000 or the average combined balance of $5,000″. I have thought about closing my account and moving the money to a CD, or close both of my accounts and move to a different bank altogether but then again that all depends on how angry I am to do it. I think complacent is the word that applies to me in this case. Pretty sad if you ask me.

A Slow Weekend

Monday, July 16th, 2007

This weekend was pretty slow. I am still trying to bring my go to sleep real late bad habit under control but so far it is turning to be harder than I thought. I spent my weekend being lazy after I did my usual weekend errands. That is what the weekend is supposed to be for, right? If you missed it, The finals of the Copa America were yesterday and Argentina and Brazil, 2 eternal soccer powers, met for the finals. From the start of the tournament Argentina looked like they were going to go all the way. Brazil on the other hand looked wobbly all throughout the tournament and in the end Brazil won 3-0 and that makes them an eight time Copa America champion. You just have to see the first goal, so look it up, you won’t be disappointed. In MLS action, FC Dallas and DC united game ended in a 3-3- tie on Saturday. Don’t miss the All Star game this Thursday the 19th, it will be MLS stars against the Celtic FC from the Scottish Premier League. Check your local listings if you want to see it. And finally, it’s Monday and that means it’s time to work, so lets make this week a really good one.
