Those Ads

Thursday, June 21st, 2007

If you are a regular reader of this blog then you know that once upon a time there were ads at the bottom of every post. Well, say goodbye to them, I won’t be using them for the foreseeable future. It has been a bit more that a month since I stopped using them. I started putting ads on my posts because my previous Blog Editor had that feature, all I had to do was sign on, which I did and I was ready to place ads. For a while they worked out nicely, I could finds ads related to what I was writing about; for example when I wrote about investing I added ads related to that and so on. Then after a while something happened. Instead of getting an ad related to the post all I was getting were ads for products related to the Blog Editor over and over again. I took a wait and see attitude thinking that maybe it would go back to normal but it never did. Next I wrote the ad company explaining the situation and asking if the issue would be fixed at some point. I got no response  from them so I decided to stop placing ads. The 18th of May was the last day ads were used. Ads or no ads life continues, one thing you can be sure of is this, if I ever start putting ads in posts again you will know the moment you finish reading one. In the meantime enjoy this ad-less post brought to you by the makers of absolutely nothing.

What?!!, Part 3

Wednesday, June 20th, 2007

Do you remember when I wrote about that friend that was supposed to give me a ride and somehow forgot about it. You can read about it here. Well, guess what?. No, he didn’t forget this time, this time he almost got the 2 of us killed. The time was about 2:20 AM today we were on the freeway almost at my place. There were some detour signs and to avoid just going the long way that the detour would have sent us on he cut to the right and got right on this island dividing the exit lane and the rest of the freeway. Next thing I know we are landing hard on the exit lane, it was a miracle he didn’t lose control. Luckily and thank GOD I am still here and writing, just a little sore but other than that ok. That idiot friend of mine will remain nameless on this post also. I just can’t believe it, friends huh.

Creating A Livelier Blog

Tuesday, June 19th, 2007

One thing that is almost always present in most any blog is some form of advertising, be it a banner or ads. Some people are annoyed by them some people don’t mind them at all, I am in the latter category with some exemptions of course. Take this blog for example, I mentioned before in a post that the design looks “nice, clean and simple” and I still think that to this day but adding a little color would make this “plain Jane” blog stand out a bit more. That is where advertising comes into the picture. Banners in particular can add to the overall look of a blog or any other website for that matter, it makes it livelier in my opinion. There is such thing as moderation of course, nobody would like to see banners all over the place and around every corner, of course not. But a few well place banners would do the trick, be it at the top right hand corner or the left or right hand sides. And lets not forget about the look itself of the banner, I for once don’t like to see anything blinking, swirling or moving for the simple reason that I don’t want to end up on the floor waking up and wondering what just happened. A simple looking banner can be a lot more compelling and effective than anything fancy, that is what I’ve found out when I visit other blogs. In the end it all comes down to your personal choice, yes to advertising or no to advertising, you get to decide what you like and what works better for your blog. Blogging evolves, that is for sure.

A Busy Weekend

Monday, June 18th, 2007

This weekend was a very busy one with lots to do and as usual not much time to do everything. Watched a few games, did stuff around the house and worked on some posts. The weekend was beautiful, sunny and warm just the way I like them. I played X-2 a lot during the weekend also, when you get going with a game  you just have to see what’s around the next corner, if you are guy you understand me. Women on the other hand, they  just don’t get us guys and that is ok because we don’t get you and shopping either, kidding. I am ready for this week and look forward to it. And finally, that 4 time champion United team beat on the Chicago Fire 3-1. That is the way I like it.

In The News

Friday, June 15th, 2007

For some strange reason it took quite a while to reach Friday. But have no fear it is finally here. Put your life on hold while you read In The News, Paris free 100% of the time and proud of it.

  1. Did you read about the rare lobster? It seems that a one and a half  pound bright blue lobster caught last week will be spared from being cooked. It will live out  it’s days at the Mystic Aquarium and Institute for Exploration joining 2 other blue lobsters already at the aquarium. I feel like lobster all of the sudden.
  2. Did you read about the fake Colgate toothpaste? It seems that Colgate-Palmolive warned consumers about counterfeit  toothpaste being sold at Dollar Stores in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Maryland. The fake toothpaste contain diethylene glycol an ingredient found in antifreeze.
  3. Did you read about the rampaging squirrel? An aggressive squirrel in a German town attacked and injured 3 people. Then it met a 72 year old pensioner that after ”massively attacked him on the arms, hand and thigh” killed the criminal squirrel with his crutch. Experts think that the attacks may have been linked to the mating season or the because it was sick. Way to go gramps.
